Micro/sys’s
High-Performance, Low-Power ARM Computer Board for StackableUSB Paves
the Entrance for ARMs in the "PC/104" Market
Montrose, CA...
Micro/sys continues to lead the way in the embedded single board computer world
with the release of the high-performance, low-power
SBC1651, an ARM Cortex-A8 computer board with StackableUSB.
Having the Freescale Semiconductor i.MX515 CPU at its core, the
SBC1651 consumes minimal power while operating at 800MHz and delivering
the performance needed to run multimedia-rich applications in harsh and
demanding environments . Its advanced RISC core and tight peripheral
integration give the SBC1651 the
competitive edge—making its 800MHz perform like 2GHz all the while satisfying
the power efficiency required in battery-operated applications. The on-board
StackableUSB I/O expansion with USB, I2C and SPI provides access to a wealth of
plug-and-play off-the-shelf I/O boards with A/D, D/A, Zigbee, GPS, mass
storage, sensors and other embedded I/O. All this combined with a wide range of
software operating systems including WinCE, Linux, VxWorks, and Android, makes
the SBC1651 ideal for new embedded
systems designs or upgrading legacy X86 PC/104 systems.
"Freescale's i.MX515
processor delivers a compelling blend of features and functionality to meet the
power stringent requirements of both the industrial and consumer markets," said
Ken Obuszewski, product marketing director for Freeescale's Multimedia
Applications Division. "The Micro/sys single board computer maximizes several
key features of the i.MX515 for deeply-embedded applications while combining it
with StackableUSB, thereby enabling users to add plug-and-play features such a
A/D, D/A, I2C, and SPI I/O for industrial measurement and control
applications."
On the compact 104 Form Factor, the SBC1651
offers an abundance of features. 512MB SDRAM, 2GB flash, and 2 SD/MMC card
slots answer the demand for portability and multimedia storage simultaneously.
The dual 10/100BASE-T Ethernet, seven serial ports, four USB ports (one
On-The-Go), ensure the SBC1651 provides design engineers every means of
embedded communication their application requires. Additional on-board
peripherals include a real-time clock, watchdog timer, 1-wire interface, 24
lines of discrete I/O, two PWM outputs, audio support TV out, 24-bit LVDS flat
panel display output, 4-wire touchscreen interface, and a SATA HDD port.
The
SBC1651 starts at $595 in single quantity. Turn-key development kits
for Linux and Windows CE are available for $995 with an extensive tool base
allowing immediate out-of-the-box development. Significant OEM discounts are
available on all boards. Contact Technical Sales Dept., Micro/sys, Inc., 3730
